Fry Scholarship

If you’re the child or surviving spouse of a service member or member of the Selected Reserve who died on or after September 11, 2001, you may be eligible for the Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship (Fry Scholarship).

Fry Scholarship functions similarly to being rated at 100% for Chapter 33: Post 9/11 in that you can receive up to 100% of tuition and mandatory fees covered. 

You may be able to get up to 36 months of benefits for these costs:

  • Tuition and fees
  • Housing
  • Books and supplies
  • Tutorial assistance
  • National exams (we’ll pay you back)
  • Licensing and certification tests and prep courses (we’ll pay you back)
  • Work study
  • Moving from a rural area to go to school
