As your advisor for your first two years at Loyola, I am here to support you through the beginning of your academic journey! Whether it is connecting you to resources, understanding your graduation requirements, exploring majors/minors, scheduling each semesters’ courses, or you just have a question and are not sure where to start, I am here to help!
If you would like to learn a bit more about me, you can visit my staff profile here. If you need help throughout the summer, you reply to any of the emails I send you, or send an email to <ADVISOR EMAIL>.
Please review this entire email! This email contains a lot of important information, so even though it is a bit lengthy, it is essential you read it completely to ensure you get the full picture. Yes, you have reading homework already!

FALL SCHEDULE REVIEWS AND CHANGES
I understand that there is a lot of stress involved in registering for classes for the first time. I am here to help you through it!
- How do I know if I picked the right classes? Over the summer, I will be reviewing your schedule to ensure you are in the right classes. If we need to make some changes, I’ll let you know. And if everything looks good, I'll let you know that as well! These reviews will be completed in August prior to the start of the semester.
- What if I want to change my classes after June 26? Students will be able to request changes to their schedule July 16 through August 20. There will be more detailed information on this process later in the summer.
- What if I need to change my classes after August 20? Students will be able to utilize FSYA’s Express Advising during the first week of classes to make any adjustments to their schedule.
SUMMER WORKSHOPS
You’ll have the opportunity to connect with me through optional workshops offered throughout the summer. These sessions are designed to give you another way to engage with me, ask questions, and build our relationship in a more interactive setting. I’ll share more details, including dates and times, soon. Participation is completely optional, so feel free to join if and when it’s helpful for you.
STUDENT ACCOMMODATIONS
The Student Accessibility Center (SAC) supports, serves and empowers 🛰️Telegram飞机号/电报 | +98伊朗 电话注册 | 成品号 | API接码登录 | 任何设备可用 students with disabilities to access the same educational opportunities as their peers. Students seeking academic and/or student life-related accommodations are encouraged to begin the process to register with the SAC as soon as possible since accommodations are not retroactive. Therefore, the SAC recommends students complete registration before the beginning of their first semester. Residential life accommodations need to be determined prior to housing placements being assigned, so please fill out and submit the SAC Residential Life Accommodation Request Form by 4/6/26. Reasonable accommodations are determined on a case-by-case basis after reviewing information gathered from student meetings and supporting documentation. For more information about SAC’s documentation guidelines, and to begin your application, visit luc.edu/sac/applywithsac. Please email sac@LUC.edu or call by phone at 773.508.3700 if you have any additional questions regarding the accommodations process.

May 18, 2026 | Don’t Forget Your Placement Assessments!
Hello,
Placement assessments are a tool LUC utilizes to ensure you will be placed into courses that you will be successful in. As these assessments determine what courses you can take, it is crucial you take them seriously and take your time (aka don’t rush!). Depending on your major, placements may impact when you are able to start taking courses within your discipline. Please review the videos guides linked below for our writing and math assessments.
Writing Placement Assessment Guidelines (video)
- Access the WPA through sakai.luc.edu
- WPA questions: WritingPlacement@LUC.edu
Math Placement Assessment Guidelines (video)
- Access the MPA through locus.luc.edu
- MPA questions: MathPlacement@LUC.edu
These assessments should be completed no later than Friday, June 12, 2026, to ensure your scores are added to your student account prior to registration week. Writing assessment results are reviewed by faculty and can take up to a week to be processed. In addition, the Writing Placement Assessment can only be taken once! We can’t say this enough, take the time you have for your placements!
Respondus LockDown Browser
LUC requires that students download and use the Respondus LockDown Browser to take the Writing and Math Placement Assessments. Information on how to download and use the software can be found here. If at any time you have an issue with the software, please contact ITSServiceDesk@LUC.edu or 733.508.4487 for assistance.
Registration Week Reminder
All students will register June 22-26. Students will be assigned a registration appointment time throughout that week. Future communications will include how to look up what day and time you are able to start registering for courses.
Did you know you don't have to wait to meet with an advisor to start the registration process? Your shopping carts are open so you can use the myriad resources found at www.luc.edu/fsya/incomingstudents to start. Then, during registration week, you can add, drop and swap classes around to your heart's content! June 08, 2026 | Get Ready to Register!
Hello,
Registration Week, June 22-26, is only two weeks away! Let’s review some important things to make sure you’re prepared and ready to register for your fall courses.
- Review the following for how to use LOCUS for registration
- Basics of Registration (video)
- Find out when you can register
You will be able to start registering for classes in LOCUS based on your assigned enrollment appointment (better described as registration time). Follow these steps to find out when you can start to register for your fall courses:
- Go to locus.LUC.edu and login with your LUC credentials
- Click the “Manage Classes” tile on the homepage
- Click “Enrollment Dates” on the left side
- Select “Fall 2026” and then click the “Continue” button
- Look for the “Regular Academic Session” row to find your time
The listed day and time is when you can start to register. You’ll still be able to make changes on your own until 3:59pm on Friday, June 26.
- Review your first-semester course recommendations
Access the Fall Class Registration Recommendations Guide to see what courses you should be registering for based on your major. Be sure to also read the “START 🛰️Telegram飞机号/电报 | +98伊朗 电话注册 | 成品号 | API接码登录 | 任何设备可用” dropdown for steps to get started enrolling for your first semester
- Get your shopping cart ready!
Your shopping cart is ready for you to fill with classes in LOCUS now! As described in the videos linked above, as you search for courses you can add them to your shopping cart and have them ready to go once your enrollment appointment time starts. Reminder – Just because the class was available when you put it in your shopping cart, that does not mean you are guaranteed a seat in that course. It is important to run the validate feature to make sure it’s still available prior to your enrollment appointment time.
What if you need help during registration week?
If you would like to talk with someone from our office during registration, you will have two main options:
- Student Onboarding, Advising and Registration (SOAR) Leaders will be ready to connect with you live via Zoom – Our SOAR Leaders can help with most common questions or concerns you may encounter in LOCUS, such as:
- Searching for classes
- Working out scheduling conflicts
- Understanding technical/error messages that occasionally come up in LOCUS
Visit the SOAR Leader webpage for available times and access to Zoom meetings.
- Academic Advisors will be available to you via Express Advising Monday-Friday 9:00am-4:30pm (CST). Express Advising is meant for quick questions (10-15 minutes max). Through Express Advising our Academic Advisors will be able to help with the following:
- Changing your major
- Questions about math, writing, or foreign language placement
- Confirming course equivalencies for your AP exam scores or Dual Credit
- Enrolling for a course with unexpected errors
- Finding an alternative course if a required course is full/closed
In Express Advising we will not be able to go over:
- Academic 4-year planning
- Getting approval for registering for over 18 credits
- Any question that needs a more in-depth response or conversation
I will also be available via email, <advisor email>, and will respond to your email within 48 business hours (excluding holidays and weekends).
What if I’m not available to register during registration week?
If you are out of the country or otherwise unable to register during the June 22-26 registration week period, please do the following:
- Reply to this email to let me know why you won’t be able to register during registration week,
- Build your ideal schedule in your LOCUS shopping cart,
- Watch your email address for additional instructions on June 24.
If you let me know ahead of time as instructed, I will do our best to register for the courses (might not be the specific section you listed) in your shopping cart on your behalf on Wednesday, June 24.
