Admissions Process
Admissions Process
MD/PhD Application Steps
- Apply to the MD/PhD Program
- Submit the AMCAS primary application, selecting the MD/PhD application option.
- Complete the Stritch secondary application, which is automatically sent to all eligible applicants after AMCAS submission. Applications are considered incomplete until the Stritch School of Medicine secondary application has been received.
- Applications are accepted from June 1 through November 15 each year. We encourage early applications to ensure full consideration as applicants are selected for interviews scheduled for September to November on a rolling basis.
- Meet the MD/PhD Program Requirements
- Applicants must meet all prerequisites and requirements outlined by the Stritch School of Medicine Office of Admissions for the MD Program.
- Applicants must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree, with evidence of a strong scientific background and research experience, to be considered eligible for the program.
- Applicants enrolled in a graduate program must complete that program before beginning medical school. If this is not possible, graduate students must withdraw from their graduate program before applying for admission to the Stritch School of Medicine.
- In addition to meaningful and sustained research experience, competitive applicants must have a solid undergraduate record with a GPA of 3.5 or higher and an MCAT composite score at or above the 75th-80th percentile.
- Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents at the time of application.
- Applicants who have taken all their undergraduate coursework outside the United States or Canada must complete at least one year of full-time study in an accredited American college or university before applying to the Stritch School of Medicine.
- Interview (if invited)
- Selected applicants will be contacted beginning in September to schedule interviews.
- Interviews are scheduled from September to November.
- The interview is a two-day in person process. No virtual interviews are offered for the Stritch School of Medicine MD/PhD program.
*Tentative* Interview dates for 2026-2027
- Thursday September 17, 2026
- Thursday October 15, 2026
- Thursday November 12, 2026
- Receive Admission Decision
- Admissions decisions are made by the MD/PhD Program and reviewed by the SSOM Executive Admissions Committee after all interviews are completed.
- Applicants who have completed interviews but have not been contacted are placed on an active alternate list and may be notified of acceptance into the program until the matriculating class is finalized.
- Applicants to the MD/PhD Program are not automatically considered for MD (categorical MD "only") admissions. Applicants not selected for an MD/PhD Program interview may have their applications considered for the MD Program if they request this in writing by contacting the SSOM Admissions Office.
