How do Elections Work?


SPRING ELECTIONS

During the Spring semester of each academic term, the SGLC shall conduct an 
Election, henceforth referred to as the Spring Election, for the following 
positions:

  • The President and Vice President
  • Seven each of: Second-Year, Third-Year, Fourth-Year, and At-Large 
    Representatives
  • The Chief Justice

FALL ELECTIONS

During the Fall semester of each academic term, the SGLC shall conduct an 
Election, henceforth referred to as the Fall Election, for the following positions:

  • Seven First-Year Representatives
  • All vacant elected offices

For election purposes, First-year Senators are defined as those students who enter 
Loyola with fewer than 20 credit hours earned in a college or university setting. 
Second-year Senators have at least 30 earned credit hours, including credit earned 
at other college or universities; Third-year Senators at least 60 credit hours; and 
Fourth-year Senators at least 90 credit hours earned
