Study Trips

Travel is essential to the study abroad experience

Here at the Rome Center, you'll be so much more than a tourist. You will have the opportunity to travel, to immerse yourself in new realities, and to think critically about global issues and ideas.

We bring our students to places where we have emotional and personal connections; staff and faculty share parts of themselves and their backgrounds while they accompany students. This provides for deeper and more meaningful student experiences.  Students don't just travel the region; they step inside a new reality and make it their own.

Study trips are organized during both the fall and spring semester and vary in length, ranging from one to ten days. Each excursion is accompanied by a faculty and/or staff members with expertise in the area of sites visited. The itineraries are prepared with both academic and cultural interests in mind. Our goal is to show students places they would not ordinarily travel to and get them thinking critically about those places.

During orientation each semester a day trip is held outside of Rome, in order to allow students to take their first trip, accompanied by staff members. This allows students to gain a sense of familliarity with travel in Europe, before venturing off by themselves.
