Aspiring physician Falak Choudry wanted to learn more about treating patients holistically, leading her to pursue a Master’s in Public Health before applying to medical school.

“Public health was my way of understanding those broader systemic and structural factors that bring people into a hospital or doctor’s office. There are many different socioeconomic determinants that shape someone’s health, and I wanted to understand them more.”

Falak has served in student government and held numerous leadership roles in student organizations, including UNICEF at Loyola. A biostatistics research assistant, her work focuses on substance use and mental health outcomes using SAS and population-level data analysis.
