Partnering with communities

This year’s symposium focuses on building and negotiating research-based community partnerships to advance health. “It is imperative that researchers join with communities as full and equal partners to solve complex health problems,” says Karen Saban, PhD, RN, CNRN, FAHA, FAAN, professor and associate dean for research and scholarly innovation and one of the event’s organizers.

Bridgette M. (Brawner) Rice, PhD, MDiv, APRN, from Villanova University’s M. Louis Fitzpatrick College of Nursing will launch the conference with a keynote address on “A Community-Engaged Research Agenda to Advance Health Equity.”  She is a staunch justice advocate who believes that research can be leveraged as an advocacy tool to ensure all individuals have an opportunity to achieve their full potential.

Several faculty from the School of Nursing are also featured as symposium speakers on a variety of topics related to community partnerships. In addition, students and faculty will share their poster presentations in this daylong conference, which runs from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
