It is your responsibility to maintain your visa status and ensure that all documentation remains accurate and up to date. This includes making normal academic progress, keeping a valid and unexpired passport and Form I-20/DS-2019, and obtaining proper work authorization before beginning any employment. Under the Immigration and National Act (INA), all nonimmigrants and lawful permanent residents must carry proof of registration at all times. Failure to comply can result in adverse immigration-related consequences. Generally acceptable documents include a combination of: Government-Issued Photo ID (passport, REAL ID, U.S. state-issued ID); Form I-94 for most recent entry; Status-specific documentation (I-20, DS-2019, I-797).

When travelling, always remember to have a valid passport, U.S. visa, and Form I-20 or DS-2019 on your person (not in your checked luggage). Additional evidence may be requested.
