A Cohort You Can Lean On
Tom Mappin, LeClaire Manufacturing
"These friendships will last for the rest of my life. If I have an issue at work, one of the first things I do is go to the cohort and say 'Hey, what do you think about this?'"

Becoming a More Intentional Leader
Holly Rainey, Autumn Construction Services
"One of the biggest lessons I learned is that leadership is not about having all the answers. It’s about creating clarity, building strong people, and moving work forward with consistency and purpose."

A Coach in Your Corner
Gabe Prischak, Plastek Group
"A big thing for me was getting a coach, somebody who I could speak to monthly. I plan to continue this relationship after graduation."

Realizing You’re Not Alone
Logan Lovelace, Quality Fabricators
"What I got out of it was confidence in myself and an understanding that I wasn't alone in what I was doing—there's actually a way bigger world of family businesses cooperating and helping each other."

Coaching
Each NGLI participant is paired with a career coach. You’ll work on your professional and personal goals through monthly one-hour sessions, scheduled at a time that suits both parties. These sessions provide valuable insights to apply in both your family and business.
Schedule
NGLI kicks-off with an opening retreat weekend (Friday-Saturday), usually at a hotel in the Chicagoland area. After the kick-off, the group will meet once a month over the course of 18 months. Each meeting is a full day and takes place on Loyola's Water Tower Campus in downtown Chicago. We try our best to accommodate participants' schedules and aim for meeting dates that are convenient for everyone.
Community
Your community is composed of three parts. Peers act as a trusted, confidential cohort of friendship and support. Your coach will be a guide through your journey, helping you create a professional and personal development plan. And your facilitator will lead the group by exploring areas of self, family, and business, and how they relate to your leadership development.
