The Center for Engaged, Learning, Teaching & Scholarship provides a number of professional development programs for faculty and staff. Our programs are open to all instructors at LUC - full time, clinical, adjunct, and staff and PhD students who teach classes.

Critical Reflection & ePortfolio Certificate

Learn how to confidently use digital learning portfolios as a high-impact practice for teaching and learning. Deepen your understanding of critical reflection and design scaffolded reflective assignments that help students connect experiences, theory, and learning over time.

In order to receive the certificate and digital badge, you must:

  • Attend all four virtual sessions
  • Submit a revised course syllabus that includes an ePortfolio and at least one critical reflection assignment

  • Wednesday, June 10, 11:00am-12:30pm
  • Wednesday, June 17, 11:00am-12:30pm

Engaged Learning Community of Practice

Join instructors teaching Engaged Learning courses from around the University to discuss elements of teaching an Engaged Learning course, including different approaches to the different Engaged Learning categories, creating engaged teaching and learning spaces, working with community partners, and developing robust techniques for teaching Engaged Learning courses. The focus on various strategies and best practices will be led by the priorities of participants, as the community of practice will develop the topics and focus of the meetings. Readings and resources will be provided throughout the community of practice meetings. Sign up here

 

Academic Internship Faculty Learning Community

The Academic Internship Faculty Learning Community is open to all those instructors and coordinators of academic interns across disciplines. This group will be directed by the questions and interests of its participants and will focus on integrating the academic internship experience of students into coursework by means of critical reflection, proactively supporting students’ pre-professional experiences, and pedagogical best practices for engaged learning courses.

Faculty Certificate in Experiential Learning

CELTS offers a faculty certificate program for Loyola's faculty to build strategies in teaching experiential learning courses. Faculty will be encouraged to engage in five workshops and as a culminating project, faculty will share a course syllabus including the experiential learning course elements. Upon completion of the series, faculty participants will:

Faculty Resource Tool Kit

This Faculty Resource Tool Kit has been curated by the CELTS team to provide educators with the resources most commonly recommended in CELTS faculty development programs to facilitate high-impact, experiential learning. In an effort to support your teaching and learning strategies for engaged learning courses.
