World Youth Day and MAGIS

World Youth Day 2027
World Youth Day (WYD) is a worldwide encounter with the Pope that gathers young people from all over the world. It is a pilgrimage, a celebration of youth, an expression of the universal Church and an intense moment of evangelization for many young adults.
With young people as its protagonist, World Youth Day also seeks to promote peace, unity and fraternity among peoples and nations around the world. This year's World Youth Day will take place in Seoul, South Korea and 8 Loyola students will be attending.
In addition to World Youth Day, students will be attending MAGIS, the Jesuit gathering prior to WYD where the Ignatian Family comes together from all over world. These days are filled with experiences that celebrate faith and service in a space of sharing and prayer.
MAGIS is a 10-day gathering of pilgrims connected to the Jesuits. It’s an opportunity for people from all over the world to gather, reflect, celebrate, and pray together, rooted in the Ignatian tradition. Pilgrims part of the week on “pilgrimage” where they have the chance to explore different cities with fellow MAGIS participants and religious. “Pilgrimages” have different focuses such as Peace & Dialogue, Arts & Culture, Ecology & Environment, Faith & Spirituality, Pilgrimage & Journey, and Solidarity & Service. Pilgrims can expect...
- Small and large group faith sharing
- Opportunities for the Sacraments (Mass, Confession, Adoration)
- Inspiring talks and catechesis from religious, clergy, and lay people from all over the world
- An experience of the universal Catholic Church
- LOTS of walking and physical activity
- Encountering people from different walks of life and cultures
- An experience of simple and communal living
- The unexpected ways God is at work!

Application
Students interested in joining Loyola's pilgrimage to WYD and MAGIS 2027 in Seoul can apply here. Priority applications are due May 14, 2026.
Fundraising
The cost of the pilgrimage is $5,000 and there will be opportunities to fundraise for the cost. More details to come!
Why are donations necessary?
World Youth Day is an opportunity for Loyola students to personally experience the universality of the Catholic Church, and to share with the whole world the hope of many young people who are committing their lives to Christ and His Church. It's a unique way to deepen their faith and grow closer to Christ, through prayer and the sacraments, together with hundreds of thousands of other young people who share their interests and ambitions.
At MAGIS, their missionary spaces will provide students the experience of connecting with the local parishioners in Portugal and Spain. Each pilgrimage experience accentuates a particular dimension of each person's unique relationship with God.
Your support will make this amazing experience possible for the students attending.
